"Zippel, das kleine Schlossgespenst" von Alex Rühle, erschienen im dtv, ist nicht nur wunderbar ins Englische übersetzt, sondern findet sich auch in der aktuellen Bestenliste in THE TIMES wieder bei den Children's Books of the Year 2019. Congrats!
Paul is a latchkey kid with two working parents. On returning from school one day he discovers a ghost living in the keyhole of his front door. Zippel, the ghost, becomes his friend and a match for the bullies who torment him. A bond with an elderly neighbour is crucial to the plot. Written by a German journalist, Alex Rühle, this translation by Rachel Ward does a marvellous job. The jokes sing and we had to stop several times during the story so my giggling six-year-old boy could wipe his eyes dry.
